JOB VACANCY: Head of Operations

Role Overview:
The Head of Operations will oversee and provide strategic leadership across Quality, UK Purchasing, Far East (FE) Purchasing, Production Engineering, and Production. Each department has a dedicated Manager in place, and the successful candidate will ensure alignment, efficiency, and continuous improvement across all areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement an operational strategy that aligns with company objectives, driving efficiency and performance across all operational departments.
- Lead, mentor, and support the respective Managers of Quality, UK Purchasing, FE Purchasing, Production Engineering, and Production.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement:
- Identify and drive initiatives to improve workflow, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
- Oversee the implementation of LEAN principles and continuous improvement methodologies across all departments.
- Monitor KPIs across operations, ensuring data-driven decision-making and performance enhancements.
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure quality standards are maintained in line with ISO 9001 and industry best practices.
- Work closely with the Quality Manager to drive quality improvement initiatives across the business.
- Oversee risk management processes to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements.
Purchasing & Supply Chain Management:
- Develop and optimise procurement strategies for both UK and Far East purchasing operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and supplier performance.
- Work with the purchasing teams to streamline supply chain operations and mitigate potential risks in global sourcing.
Production & Engineering Oversight:
- Support the Production Engineering team in improving manufacturing processes, reducing waste, and enhancing efficiency.
- Oversee production operations to ensure timely delivery, resource optimization, and overall factory performance.
- Drive automation and technology adoption to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Serve as the link between operational departments and senior leadership, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Work closely with Sales, Design Engineering, and Accounts to ensure smooth operations and cross-functional collaboration.
- Develop and present reports on operational performance, challenges, and improvements to senior stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an operational leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to lead multiple departments and drive strategic improvements.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, LEAN manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience in procurement and supply chain management, preferably across both UK and international markets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and data-driven operational decision-making.
